I came across some crash debris from a motorcycle accident along The Highway in Shadwell the other day. The twisted metal and shattered plastic reminded me of J G Ballard¹s CRASH... each piece of debris bares traces of its fateful impact. This is the visor from the otherwise missing helmet, it will be included in a new painting... Best known for his ‘dipping’ process in which various
objects are dipped repeatedly in multi-coloured emulsions,
Shane Bradford’s practice broadens to encompass large scale
painting, 3D objects, and project work. A complex balance
of socio-political commentary and creative wonderlust
underpins an intrinsic humour in the work.

The initial genesis for his artistic production comes from
a tendency to pinpoint the dialogue created between a spe-
cific process and the subject matter it suggests. This sym-
biosis of content and technique forms the trajectory for
an expanding artistic enquiry.
